DSL Northwest uses an advanced spam filtering system based on SpamAssassin. It works by examining every email message for clues that it may be spam. If it determines that a particular message is spam, it adds the prefix "[SPAM]" to the subject line of the message, making it easy for you to quickly identify and delete the message in question.
(Note that there's nothing you need to do to enable spam filtering; it's automatically enabled. If for some reason you don't want spam filtering enabled for your email account, contact us.)
One of the great things about our spam filtering system is that it allows you configure your email program to automatically move incoming spam messages into a separate "Spam" folder, which keeps your Inbox uncluttered. You can then review this junk mail at your convenience and delete it as needed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Occasionally the spam filtering system will be tricked into making a "false positive", accidentally tagging a "good" message which is not actually spam at all. Since spammers try to disguise their unwanted messages as legitimate mail, our system tries to separate good email from spam and it's not always 100% successful. In those rare cases, you can simply move the mis-categorized message back into your inbox. If you have any questions about our spam filtering system, don't hesitate to contact us.
